A repost for my own encouragement

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

This is not about how useful we can become, or how successful our ministries appear to be.  It is about being conformed to the image of Christ.  Absolutely everything in our lives is directed towards our conformity.  God is not served by human hands as though he needed something from us.  He’s granted us the privilege to participate in a great work that he is doing.  But the great goal of God is not to make us successful servants.  The great goal of God is to make us conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (Paul Washer).

You Are Loved… Because of What God Has Done

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith (Romans 3:23-27).

The gospel is so hard to really believe.  Even for Christians.  Especially for me.

Why are you downcast, my soul?  Hope in God!

God’s doing some awesome things around the world, including right here in America in our own inner cities.

These rappers are pouring deep, rich theology into their songs.  It’s some of the best lyrical content the world has seen since the Great Awakening.

Unfortunately, I’ve read some comments from Christians to the effect of, Rap is used to glorify sin and is a product of the world, so we shouldn’t use rap as a means of spreading the gospel (more…)

This sermon has been making its way all over the blogosphere recently.  It’s amazing how many times I’ve seen this 2 hour sermon posted on a blog.  And there’s a very good reason.

Grab some popcorn.  You will not regret watching this.
